The Penny Black issued on |
J65 The Camberley Postmark in |
The club was founded in
1967 by collectors from
Camberley, Surrey and Crowthorne, Berkshire.
We meet at 7.30 p.m. in Camberley
at St. Michael's Church Hall, London Road, Camberley, GU15 3JP (at the
junction
of the A30 with Frimley Road) on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
There
are a few exceptions at holiday times - no meeting on the 4th Tuesday
of July
and December and no meetings in August.
Meetings are devoted to displays
from members or visiting speakers. We have an annual quiz and an annual
members' competition.
Potential
new members are always very welcome at our meetings. |
In April each year we
hold a Club Stamp Auction and send out
catalogues to collectors
country-wide as well as to local clubs. Our
next Auction will be
held at our usual venue, The Morgan Centre,
Wellington Road,
Crowthorne RG45 7LD on Saturday 21st April 2018. We aim to have a wide
variety
of material in each auction.
In the 29 or more years that we
have run these auctions we have sold some exceptional lots. Our top
sale was £2,150 for a stampless
Cyprus cover
concerning the supply of mules to the Army in Serbia in World
War I.
Another good lot fetched £1,000 for a GB First Day Cover
(believed unique)
of the 1947 KGVI Silver Wedding issue bearing both the 2½d and £1
stamp. The
cover was sent registered from Windsor Castle.

A popular feature has
always been our Club Packet.
The packet consists of booklets containing priced material from a wide
selection
of countries. Buyers remove the stamps they want and sign the resulting
empty
space. Booklets are available for members to sell any stamps they no
longer
require. The packet is circulated by hand between the members so no
postal
charges are incurred.
Unfortunately, the
current Packet Secretary has had to resign and we are currently seeking
a
volunteer to take over this important club activity.
The
Club Annual subscription is £12 per
annum and is due on the
1st January each year,
but, if paid by the end of February, it is reduced to £10.
NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS VERY WELCOME
